The Cholmondeley Pageant of Power is sadly over for another year, but this year’s was fantastic fun and the action was very varied on land, water and in the air. The Pageant attracted thousands of exuberant visitors, and luckily the weather held out for the occasion this year.
The Pageant of Power is a great day out for every kind of motor enthusiast. Many big names in the motoring industry had exhibits, live displays, and their competition cars being driven on the track at the Pageant, including McLaren, Bentley, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Lotus, Morgan and trackday cars from Ariel and BAC.
At the top of the Pageant arena, overlooked by the splendid Cholmondeley Castle, was the Supercar Paddock. Here, visitors could see some fantastic new supercars, including the mighty Lamborghini Aventador and Ferrari F12.
Drivers had the opportunity to take their cars out for a long timed sprint run down Cholmondeley’s Chestnut Avenue and onwards around the whole venue. Crowds lined the barriers watching the drivers hurtle down the road and jump the various humps and bridges, engines screaming and tyres squealing, and the occasional incident with straw bales – many were on the limit trying hard to win each class! Numerous celebrity racing drivers took part including Rick Parfitt Jnr, the current 2013 British GT4 Champion after surprising himself by winning in his debut season last year.
The Pageant doesn’t only cater for petrolheads though. With dozens of different stands and exhibitors there was plenty to see and do for the whole family, with the Lifestyle Pavilion and food stands proving extremely popular. There was a large fairground for the children to enjoy, with lots of brilliant big rides including a helter-skelter, remote control cars, and a Young Driver Experience area.
This was Sportscarhires’s first time exhibiting at the show, and we loved being a part of such an amazing occasion. We brought along four of our sports cars over the weekend, with a large number of enquiries and bookings especially for our Nissan GT-R R35 and Caterham 7 Roadsport.
Our Sportscarhire team were pleased to meet so many enthusiastic drivers, who were passionate about sports cars and motoring, and we really appreciated the opportunity to have a chat with them. We were also able to express our own passion for our sports cars, and our belief that everybody should be able to experience the thrill of driving a sports car, and for an affordable price.
We had several hundreds of people enter the Sportscarhire Balloon Competition. Participants were challenged to guess how many balloons filled our Nissan GT-R, with a free day’s hire of the GT-R or F-Type V6S as the prize. We invited Rick Parfitt Jnr to do the honour of popping the balloons, which he enthusiastically agreed to do – after he’d jumped into our Jaguar F-type for a quick rev of the engine!
Rick rapidly hunted down all the balloons and totalled them with sharp scissors, we gathered up the remains… and totalled them!
We also ran a raffle competition to win a remote controlled Supercar, from R. M. Toys Ltd, who also had a popular stand at the Pageant of Power. These toys proved extremely popular, and we had hundreds of people take a raffle ticket from us. All the participants had to do was Like our Sportscarhire Facebook page and they were entered into the draw to win one of four that were available.
The winners of both competitions will be announced later this week, plus several videos including the cars’ fun road trip home after the event.
We were delighted with the high level of interest we had at the show, and look forward to giving everyone an enjoyable and affordable sports car experience. If you may be interested in booking any of our cars then please fill out an enquiry form from our website and we will be in touch, or contact us directly by phone or e-mail.
